1, 2 or scrap?

Hi all,

I was recently invited to a garden party themed wedding where the dress code is semi formal. I'm a bit stumped choosing which dress to buy since the recommended length was listed as "midi". I'm aware my first choice is too small while the second is a bit more formal. Do either of these work or should I keep looking?
