With the relatively new severe damaged mechanic, could something similar work for ground vehicles?

I am not too sure how this would be calculated, but something along the lines of taking out gunner and making them unable to move (Tracks, engine, grsnsmi) could count as severe damage to have less stolen kills in ground battles, as it's very common, at least on my end to heavily damage an enemy only to have the actual kill stolen!

What are your thoughts?
