Tracking without tracking camera?

Idk if this been asked before, but is there away to track enemies without the tracking camera button? It's annoying bc it moves the plane towards the target, it makes me lose energy. I'm on console, idk if it's possible to change it so that I can move freely while tracking the target. Any help appreciated.
