Got fired for sheltering a banana spider

I was handling bananas and seen a Brazilian wandering spider and I took it using a garbage strawberry plastic tray. Word got out and eventually higher ups let me go. They said I put myself in danger as well as other associates. And I should have reported it.

Is this an ethic issue? Can I get rehired or un-fired? I'm thinking of getting my job back or filing unemployment.
