UBC, the actual University itself, has 14 LMIA's in Q4 2024 alone.
Among other business. There's been complaints from University Students about not being able to find work anywhere near the University. Most the part time work is... you guessed it... LMIA work.
I'm surprised that with so many graduates that they'd need to go the LMIA route. I'd like to know what subjects they actually need these LMIA profs (or whatever they are) to teach.
After learning this I realized that there is a disproportionately huge amount of foreign workers in public sector positions in Canada. Easy quick-draw: Before you reach for that race card realize that these people are usually from the U.S. or the U.K. I think it's because they demand such high levels of education for jobs that don't need it here, and just the huge amount of overeducation in the global talent pool needing somewhere to spill over into. The result is that they get someone with zero local experience. Whatever they're doing it's not working. HIRE CANADIANS ALREADY.
