Don't worry about the Vancouver job situation, just be an RMT.
I'm an RMT, my friends are RMTs, , we make 150-200k a year. its s solid profession, everyone's insurance affords them multiple free messages a year, so it won't get hit by lower consumer spending for the upcoming recession. Yes you will work 50 hour + weeks, but most people live their work anyways these days, lets be honest. The school is not cheap, but significantly cheaper than university. stop worrying about the job market. BE AN RMT.
edit: how do i make 200k? easy, lets do some simple math. i charge $130 an hour, i often work 10 hour days, i do take holidays but not that many. RMTs work almost whenever there is demand. so $130 x 255 (assume i work 255 days a year, not unreasonable) x 9 = $298,350 then get ~220 from multiplying by 0.75 ( the RMT shop takes 25%) im not always fully booked but often am, there is a ton of RMT demand and not enough practitioners to service it, so its easy to book up.
edit 2: i dont work in downtown Van, to make bank you need to go to the recently densely populated suburbs, and build a good brand and good client relationships
