My first attempt at painting with silicone! +result dick pics

Hey all,

I commented on this post about sharing the results of my paint endeavors, and it actually went really well, so here I am. I marked this as a review because it's the closest thing that fit lol.

So what I did was used a silicone base (silpoxy), silicone pigments, and a mineral spirit thinner, and I created silicone paint in the hopes of a more permanent way to color all my cheaper packers. I also experimented with different silicone bases, but Silpoxy worked the best because it cured fast and was durable. I looked at tutorials like this, I looked at reference pictures, I took reference pictures of my tdick, and I painted without pants on so I could compare to my thighs lol. Matching colors took the most time, and I would recommend mixing pigment and mineral spirits first before adding the time limit of Silpoxy. I mixed my colors in a plastic ice cube tray prepared with isopropyl alcohol, which I also used to clean the packer.

Also (big thing) this packer is years old and I don't remember where I bought it from (I didn't want to ruin my newer ones), and this still worked but time will tell as far as adhesion compared to fresher silicone. I washed the packer with unscented hand soap and the new layer of silicone stayed on, so I hope it will wear similar to a lot of silicone painted packers and then I can just re-paint it myself. Side note - I powdered with cornstarch and it made the color look more washed out but that happens with any packer.

Next time I will use more thinner and try harder not to go over areas again with the paintbrush that haven't fully cured, since it created pilling kind of like fabric. Also if you do this, crack a window and wear a mask, the silicone does not smell like something you want to be inhaling. Some general set-up tips: lay down a trash bag over your work area in case of spills and drips, plus you can set the packer down on the trash bag while it dries (I did not paint the back of the packer so I could set it down).

I'm excited to try this with more prosthetics, and I'm down to answer any questions!
