Can you really save that much on gas?
I've done the math. I average 1,700km per month in my F150.
My truck is hitting 11.5L/100km (yes, Canadian) at $1.50 per Litre which should work out to about $294 per month on gas.
Based on what I can find, the Model Y is 15kwh/100km and at my home it costs about $0.12/kWh (that's rounding up from about $0.113/kWh just to be a bit safe). With the model Y it would work out to $31 per month to drive the same 1,700km.
.....$294 in gas vs. $31 in electricity. Am I missing something?
This seems absolutely unreal and I don't know I I didn't realize this before?
Edit: thanks everyone for the discussion! I can't believe the math is actually true, it totally seems....impossible. Once I add in my monthly savings on the car payment ($228 less per month for the Y) and factor in a slightly higher insurance premium ($160 higher for the year) this vehicle will end up saving my a ton of money right away and over the years. Can't wait to take delivery before the end of the month!!
