Anyone replaced their fan for the CPU throttling issue?

Hi all.

I bought my Deck in Feb 2023 through an Australian retailer (Dick Smith). I assume they import them from the US and sell them here.

Recently I began experiencing the dreaded 400Mhz CPU Core issue and my fan does not spin up at all, constantly reading 0 RPM in the performance overlay regardless of activity I’m doing on the on Deck. After attempting all the software troubleshooting steps and reseating the battery and the current fan I’ve ordered a replacement fan off of ifixit which is due to arrive today.

Just wondering if anyone else has attempted to replace their fan to resolve this issue? I know someone on this sub from Australia has mentioned they have RMA’d their device before but shipping and parcel forwarding ended up costing nearly $300 whereas the fan was only $50 so I figured I’d try that first.

EDIT: IT WORKED! After putting the new fan in my Steam Deck from iFixit all my CPU cores returned back to their normal clock speeds and my fan now displays its RPMs in the overlay again. So if you do experience this issue and don’t want to go through RMA/live in a country outside of support try replacing your fan.
