Why am I not finding prismatic shards or dinosaur eggs?

I'm on my fourth year and have only found ONE prismatic shard and 0 dinosaur eggs!!! I have been mining in the skull cavern for days searching for both, I've been mining so many iridium nodes with 0 luck, and I've killed so many dinosaurs (I even found a prehistoric floor!!) and no eggs! I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if I am just super unlucky, but I definitely would like some advice either way! EDIT: I have the lucky ring equipped, and I eat spicy eel every time before I go in the mines now but still nothing. I'm not able to get the burglar ring yet :( EDIT AGAIN: I FINALLY GOT A DINOSAUR EGG!! I WAS MINING IN THE QUARRY AND DUG IT UP!! ANOTHER EDIT LIKE 10 MINUTES LATER: I JUST GOT A PRISMATIC SHARD FROM THE QUARRY AS WELL!!!!
