SVU, we have a problem…

Is it me or does anyone else find this pattern alarming? As a black woman, I watch this show with the hope that the new seasons will be filled with episodes featuring racially and socioeconomically diverse stories. With that expectation, the last couple of SVU seasons has been terribly disappointing on that front.

I was even more disappointed this season that the only episode featuring a non-white monoracial person was an episode featuring a victim from a previous episode. With a season dominated by cases involving white victims and perpetrators, the only case with a black woman is a story we’ve already seen before. Really?
