anyone noticed a BMS update in 2024.47 that wasn’t in the release notes?

Hey folks, I just updated both of our R1s—one is a Gen1 with about 5,800 miles and was originally listed as a 131 kWh pack, and the other is a Gen2 with only 197 miles on the clock and originally a 140 kWh pack. Interestingly, both trucks showed a noticeable jump in their reported state-of-charge (SoC) percentage immediately following the update.

Digging a little further (and looking at API data through Home Assistant), I noticed something odd:

• Gen1 R1: Now reports ~122 kWh (previously ~131 kWh — an OG large pack)

• Gen2 R1: Now reports ~136 kWh (previously ~142 kWh — a Gen2 max pack)

Since our charge targets are based on the BMS’s reported capacity, this effectively means the total kWh stored in the battery at each percentage has changed. In practical terms, we’re seeing an effective range loss of a few percentage points when charging to, say, 85%, because 85% of a smaller reported capacity yields fewer total kilowatt-hours - the estimated miles has also dropped inline with the BMS reported capacity.

I haven’t seen any mention of changes to the BMS in the release notes. Has anyone else experienced this adjustment, or have any insight on what might be going on? I’m wondering if this recalibration is intentional for accuracy (e.g., adjusting for degradation, temperature, or something else not previously accounted for), or if something else is at play?
