advice on getting new rats?

Hey there!

I've had female rats for about 3 or 4 years now. This time around, I plan on getting males, neutering them, and then adding them to the cage with my remaining females.

I have an appointment scheduled to meet with the breeder on the 19th of this month to pick up two or three males.

However, I finally got a date from the vet for when I can schedule the neuters, which is October 31st.

My question is, should I push back the meeting with the breeder until mid-October to prevent less time for the boys to be alone in a smaller cage (Prevue Pet Products 528 - 32.5"L x 19"W x 17.5"H) or do you guys think it would be okay to get them now and keep them in that cage for about a month and a half?
