MPA Program Ranking Matter?

Hello everyone,

I'm at a pivotal point in my career and considering pursuing my MPA while continuing to work full-time in local government.

I've been fortunate to gain diverse experience since graduating from UCLA in Political Science and have diligently prepared myself financially for this next step. As I navigate the plethora of MPA programs available, I'm grappling with the question of whether program rankings truly matter.

My belief has been that at the master's level, accreditation and practical skills are paramount, rather than the prestige of the institution. I've been accepted to USC's program in the past, but the hefty price tag of $90k made me hesitate, especially without substantial scholarship opportunities. Now a few years later, I'm exploring more affordable options like Arkansas State ($12k) and SDSU ($19k), both fully online.

I'd greatly appreciate your insights and experiences regarding the significance of program rankings and whether the cost justifies the potential benefits. Have you attended any of these programs, or do you have recommendations for others? Your feedback would be invaluable in helping me make an informed decision. Thank you in advance for your time and input!
