When people online post videos with subtitles, and they either make the subtitles say something else funny on purpose, or censor with other words, or don't care to fix mistakes

I rarely ever see any videos with subtitles the way they're intended to be used. I think people forget that it's an accessibility tool and not just another way to make jokes in your video. Censoring swear words is fine, but I've seen SO many people censor words that don't need to be censored with entirely different words.

Tiktok also has an automatic caption option. You can even edit the captions. It tends to have a few mistakes, but I feel like any time I see a video with captions, it's so misspelled or it's picked up way different words that change the meaning of what you're trying to say.

If you're going to have captions on your video, take them seriously and put the minimal amount of effort required in. It's really not hard, or even time consuming anymore since it makes the captions for you and you can just edit a few words. If you're not going to take it seriously, don't waste the time of the people who need the captions who will just be confused instead.
