ROP has apprehended an individual for committing electronic fraud
The Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations has apprehended an individual of Asian nationality for committing electronic fraud by sending suspicious links via SMS to victims' phones to obtain their data and withdraw funds from their bank accounts. Legal procedures are currently underway. The Royal Oman Police urges everyone to ignore calls and messages from unknown sources and to refrain from sharing the one-time password (OTP) with any untrusted entity.
