Finally got back on the board after 12-14 years- Any insight / advice? [34YO]
I haven’t skated in 12-14 years now I think. It’s been a long time. I’ve got 2 hip replacements as well so it’s kind of deterred me from trying.
Anyway, I couldn’t stand the itch any longer to get back in and I finally took the plunge. I used to skate on a competitive level as I had a little local shop sponsor and all that jazz back in the day, so I guess I set my own bar pretty high.
I have to admit, this was both enjoyable and frustrating at the same time. It’s like my brain remembers how to do shit, but my body is like 50% in remembering what to do. I got hit pretty quickly with the reality of “This isn’t going to be as epic as you expected.”
I still managed to do shit - Can still ollie. Can still kickflip and heelflip, but I had to hang onto the fence. Somehow managed to pull off a few no comply 180’s.
Any advice/insight on stepping back into this?
