Horrible looking HDR after following popular guide.

I have attached two photos taken in a dark room. First photo is my custom setting without HDR.

I would love some feedback on why my AW3225QF looks so horrible in HDR, what should I be doing differently since the guide I followed looks absolutely horrid.
