Just diagnosed today
Hi everyone, I’m just here to give you guys my story and looking for any helpful tips on how to deal with this.
I am 24 yo, white male. Pretty fit 5’10 170. Work out 5x a week and played college football. I eat pretty healthy. I’m a normal guy. Never had health issues or anything. No Auto Immune issues run in my family.
Long story short I have Optic Neuritis in my right eye. 2 weeks now, which I have already been discharged from the hospital from. Vision isn’t really improving yet. This was the first “flare up” that I have had. At least known. They also said something about something with my spinal cord.
Today, I was officially diagnosed with MS and will begin my treatment in a month.
IV injection of some drug every 6 months.
I feel physically fine right now besides the eye.
If anyone could answer any questions I have that would be super helpful. Please be brutally honest. No need to sugar coat anything.
How will this affect my regular life?
What are the chances I have more flare ups?
If I live a healthy lifestyle, what are the chances I lose walking abilities - other major health issues?
Should I lift weights, walk, run, bike, swim, HIIT class? What is the best workouts?
How will this affect my brain?
Can I continue working?
Any foods I should eat, not eat? Supplements?
Basically anything I should know, do, not do to help me with this life.
P.S. - I feel like I will be okay but maybe I am naive. Please just give me anything you can to help me.
