Should I split my Monstera?

I'm new to looking after this Monstera. I recently reported it and noticed that there are two branches in the pot. Should I split them and have two separate (smaller) plants instead? I am finding it very hard to control this plant. I'd love it to grow more up, right now it's growing in all directions.
