McLaren MP4/4 Promotional Model

Hi all,

First time poster here and I could use a little advice.

I've been fortunate to be able to acquire this roughly 89cm long, 42cm wide McLaren MP4/4 promotional model, predominantly made of plastic. As such what it makes up for in size, it lacks in internal detail but I'm delighted with it. However, as you can see it has significant yellowing to the white plastic over time and unfortunately despite the seller's best efforts the rear wing was damaged in transit.

I have a few questions which I wondered if you knowledgeable folks might be able to help me with.

  1. What in your opinion would be the best type of model cement/glue to use to help repair this type wing?
  2. Do you think that it would be possible to restore the yellowing to some kind of white again? I have heard about the use of hydrogen peroxide and wrapping the area in plastic and allowing the sunlight's heat to react can help to restore some plastics, but realise that the size and shape of this model would seem to make this a very difficult task and I assume this isn't usually carried out. Would spray-painting the yellow areas white be another option? If so, are there any recommended spray-paints for plastic models you'd recommend? It would be nice to be able to restore it back to its once iconic brilliant white to contrast with the red.
  3. Lastly, I was wondered if anyone knew what a rough 89cm long model would be classed as, scale-wise? Perhaps with it being made solely for promotional purposes there isn't a defined scale? I would ideally like to replace several of the old and peeling decals and wondered as I'm UK based if anyone had any recommendations for McLaren decals of similar scale I could buy?

Many thanks in advance for any thoughts you may have.
