Noxary Situation
Hi all,
Recently, I’ve been having a lot of issues dealing with Noxary and getting updates/status from my GB purchases from them. I know most of the time in this hobby that “no news is good news”, but the treatment and responses I’ve gotten so far from the Noxary discord and through the Noxary support email have been completely underwhelming and is making me very nervous about the status of our group buys. Below is a timeline and list of attempts other people have made to get some information from xondat(the owner or Noxary).
X60 v2/Evija(2022): [ https://imgur.com/a/6PAlHAL ‘list of updates so far’]
December 2021: GB started
January 2022 - July 2022: No real update on keyboards being produced other than waiting on the manufacturer’s queue to clear and reopen from a shutdown.
August 2022: machining is finally beginning on the x60 v2
September 2022 - November 2023: No updates or new information for 3 months
December 2022: Xondat says both the x60 v2 and Evija(2022) are slated to finished in March 2022
February 2023: Says more issues plaguing the production of x60 v2. Speaks about some scratches and it's only noticeable after anodizing. Xondat decided to pause production of Evija(2022) and focus on x60 v2. These random scratches on the side were only found out when the orders were close to being finished and all of the units had the same issue.
March 2023 - July 2023: No real update other than just definite progress then adds slower than expected. At this point there are still no pictures showcasing the progress anywhere or even the defects he had mentioned from the February 2023 update. He still states that the manufacturer is having trouble producing the quality he expects.
Just as a side note: The X60 is a very standard 60% keyboard. There are no crazy curves, no crazy weights - just a simple 60% with filet edges and a bottom weight. [ https://imgur.com/a/L7XK7Rn ]
380 GB:
Was run in the midst of machining for the x60 v2 and when the x60 v2 was projected to finish by March as with the Evija(2022). Xondat said that this project “looked” on track at that time. When February 2023 came around, the x60 v2 faced issues with marks after anodization. With the quantity of units sold (200+) from the x60 v2, how can it be that the units weren’t anodized in batches and the issues weren't found out earlier. Also how did EVERY one of the units not make it past QC and he had no units to ship out to customers? Again, all of these statements are still said without any sort of concrete evidence.
Conclusion:
As the runner of multiple GBs, you have the responsibility of providing as much transparency given you already have people’s money. While I understand that mental/physical health is very important, it doesn’t mean you can just ignore people for months and withhold substantial updates and just ask people to trust your words. There should be at least pictures provided of the defective or non-defective units produced, to provide more clarity when the problem is that serious. And with the recent event of Noxary discord going full private as these events unfolded, it has definitely put some unease into people involved in Noxary GBs including myself. People just want some fast and quick response with pictures of these units produced or maybe the interaction between the manufacturer to calm the situation. I think this worry is completely justifiable after what has spiraled out from the Mechs&Co situation.
Here are some screenshots showing his response to the delays and his handling of customer support:
- Unresponsive through Noxary discord channel or through Noxary support email. There are people constantly asking for updates about their orders or the status of their replacement parts because they wait weeks upon weeks for a response.
