$2400 fix for Ball Joints?
Upper ball joints are torn and starting to clunk a little bit on a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit with air suspension.
Mechanic quoted $2400 for both sides including upper control arm and would do the lower ball joints as well. This would also include an alignment. Does this price sound reasonable?
They said labor was 2/3rds of the cost which I believe because based on videos I’ve seen the amount of parts you need to remove to access the upper control arm and is quite a headache.
I’m also debating doing this myself but really don’t want to spend an entire day doing it. It’s the upper ball joints that are the problem in isolation and I could get those for $200-300 and replace myself without too much of a headache. It’s as soon as you replace the upper control arm that it becomes a much bigger project.
