Why is MauLer so ostracized in the Analysis part of YouTube?

I'm new to his videos (Watched the new the Force Awakens and currently watching In Defense Of Dark Souls 2 a Measured Response) and while I feel like some of his tangents can get somewhat boring and straying from the main point, he generally seem like a reasonable person who tries his best to keep himself objective, and does his best to keep his videos accurate.

And yet, there's this weird hostile nature whenever someone talks about him outside his community (as demonstrated in The Force Awakens), like they're talking about E;R and while I can see why E;R can ruffle some feathers with his stances, I'm not sure WHY people dislike MauLer.

Sure he makes long videos but it's not like he's being smug or rude in them, he seems to deliver his script in a pretty neutral manner.
