Any Reason Light Phone III Doesn’t Have Android Auto? An EV Drivers Perspective
The only reason I can think of is data sharing/privacy. I'm sure it would be a lot to develop but could light make the navigation app work on the in car screen so there's no google data tracking? I would assume all of the hardware is capable.
The reason I'm thinking of this is as an ev owner. Some will need to use the in car display to search for chargers using PlugShare and ABRP (a better route planner). This isn't going to be an issue for me personally since my car has it baked in. But someone I know is about to buy an older Bolt which does not have any pre installed navigation to chargers.
He's not a light user and will be using AA on his phone, but it got me thinking about how many people will be reluctant to give up AA when thinking about purchasing a light phone. In the same way people don't buy a certain car because it doesn't have CarPlay or AA I would assume the feeling would be the same for the light phone.
I guess the other workaround would be to have chargers baked into the map data? Not sure what api the light navigation uses but it would be something to look into.
