As we can see the court document neglects to even mention a rap battle. And breaks down a tonne of lines on the song. Somehow the image is being pinned on UMG via reaction videos, but some of those reaction videos were released before the song was even officially “released”. It was just put out by Kendrick on YouTube by then.

I genuinely believe Aubs could be inching closer to a lawsuit directly against Kendrick. He’s potentially just taking one step at a time to make it more palatable for his fans.

The court may say something like UMG’s contract dictates they release and promote the music with the artist given artistic license, so the only person he can sue for defamation is Kendrick. Then he can effectively say “Sorry guys but the court says I gotta do this….”.

That’s not to say i think he’ll win any way significantly. Maybe he’ll get a couple bucks relatively speaking since Kendrick may not even care to put up the defense of “he dissed me too”. Plus paying let’s say 10 million in damages to a guy cos you beat him so fucking bad in a battle would be the most winning kind of loss you can have 😂
