When did it become an expectation to drop diss records within days?
This was never really a standard, right? Drake has the internet on his side and has easily been pushing the narrative that Kendrick is on the clock and needs to drop ASAP. Drake has the skill to put stuff out fast and it still being a decent track. This isn’t to say that Kendrick can’t do that, but it’s not his thing; for Kendrick it’s quality > quantity and that’s evident when you compare their discographies.
Is this just people having short attention spans and have zero patience when it’s only been like a week? Drake has public perception and the media on his side and got people out here thinking it’s the standard to drop something fast. It’s a double edged sword: it could be impressive that you dropped something fast and have it sound good OR it sounds clearly rushed and sounds terrible, Drake is betting on the latter.
I can see why people would want Kendrick to respond fast if he said the he would, but has he ever said anything like that in the past?
