Building a low-sqft, high-cost house

Hi everyone! I'm in the process of researching homebuilding. I'm curious about what precedent there is for low-sqft, high-cost homes. I think I want to build something modern/contemporary, within the $500,000-$600,000 range, and 800-1000 sqft ($600/sqft)

What are some good resources that I can direct my research to? What are some sites/resources I should avoid?
