I got Trichomoniasis after having sex with my long distance bf
I have an IUD, which can increase my chance of getting a yeast infection or BV. Since the testing method for yeast infection & BV involves the same procedure and they share similar symptoms, my clinic also tests for trichomoniasis when I get tested for yeast infection or BV. I got tested in mid-December, and all of my results were negative.
I met up with my long-distance bf on Dec 30 - Jan 4. After having sex with him, I developed symptoms such as frequent urge to pee and itching.
I got tested on Jan 14, and the result says I got trich, not yeast infection/ BV.
Does this mean he cheated on me while we were away from each other?
I have never had any STDs or a UTI prior to this.
*EDIT: I realized I left out a lot of important information because I was not taking this news well.
- We have been together for almost 4 years. We have never used a condom.
- I got tested a few days before we met each other for the first time (4 years ago), and my result was negative.
- I got tested for the yeast infection/BV/Trich combo in mid-April & mid-December. For the mid-April test, I was positive for BV but not Trich. I got it treated. For the mid-December test, it was all negative.
- I had sex pretty much daily from Dec 30 to Jan 4 with my bf. I developed symptoms around Jan 3/4 (frequent urge to pee, pain during intercourse). I thought these symptoms were happening because I hadn't had sex in a while. The symptoms got worse after Jan 4 (I developed vaginal itchiness & soreness), which led me to get a test done.
- When I told him about it, he swears he did not sleep with anyone else. He currently resides in a country known for pollution and unsanitariness for work. However, my doctor said it is very rare to get trisch without sex.
- I did not sleep with anyone else.
*UPDATE (Jan/17/2025): I retested before starting the treatment. My result came back as negative. My bf is still waiting for his result. My pap smear also says negative.
