A plan for Regicide
Throwaway account
Let me set the scene. I am the newish (fewer than 6 months in post) CRO of a financial services business. I have worked in my particular subset of this industry since 2002, starting out on a grad scheme and ending up where I am; without wanting to sound brash but I'm good at what I do and have won awards and international recognition along the way, alongside two 7 figure exits after share sales.
As I said, my new role is the CRO of a business within the industry that has been around for a little over 20 years but has lagged its peers - some of the places I used to work - dramatically. It is my mission to turn that around.
The issue is the founder and CEO who acts as a bottleneck and pinch point on plans, adds nothing from a strategy and leadership point of view and is prone to doubling down on bad decisions rather than cutting losses.
As long as he is in post, those of us in the C-Suite are pushing on in spite of him.
Excuse the moan, but has anyone had any experience of killing the king? I'm not looking for the promotion myself but a change is needed and any hints or suggestions are very welcome
