Height and Tough Decisions

Hi, I write this just to share this aspect of goalkeeping and how facts can force little kids to adapt their dreams.

My son is the goalkeeper of a famous Spanish club's U12 team. He never was a tall kid, but he is an extremely talented goalkeeper. However, his recent anthropometric evaluation indicates that his height will reach only 180cm (~5'11). Although he can continue playing as a goalkeeper for now, it is very unlikely that he will make pro or even will be able to play in e.g. U15. So at the age of 11, my son made the decision to become a fielder, even though this means that he gets relegated to the B team and has to find his way back to the A team in a year. Of course I'm proud of him and his extremely wise choice, but that's not the point. Honestly, I don't know what the point is, I simply hope that someone will find this post useful if they find themselves in a similar situation.

Edit: further to the comments, I want to emphasize that the change was not my decision. My son told me that he wanted to be a pro player and if his height was in the way, he would become pro as a fielder. Just to quote his argument: "I cannot do anything about my height, but I can learn and do anything else"
