Snow in December in NEGA?

Hello! I’m planning on possibly going to the Clayton/Hiawassee area in the second or third week of December. Is there usually snow that time of year? How much? Any tips on how to prepare for snow in the area (what to wear, where to stay, driving, etc.)?
