How did the timeline work in Armageddon?

In Armageddon, when Thawne changed the timeline for himself to be hit by lightning to become The Flash instead of Barry - what do you think happened to the Harrison Wells of that timeline?

Iris refers to him as Eobard in the episode, so nobody sees him as Harrison Wells - but he is still wearing his face. Someone had to build STAR Labs & the particle accelerator in the first place, so what do you think happened here?

This is definitely something to just theorise on & I don’t think there’s a proper canonical explanation - but a good theory will definitely scratch that curious itch.
