Advice Needed: Character Singing a Copyrighted Song

Hello!

I directed a comedy short film in which an awkward character is dared to go ask out the "popular woman" in town, and when he approaches said woman, he awkwardly stands in front of her and sings about 8 seconds of the song Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison (acapella), before becoming too embarrassed to continue.

I've already shot the scene, so at this point, I can't replace this moment with a copyright free song. I recognize now that I'd likely need permission to use the snippet of this very popular song in the video.

My question is: is attempting to secure permission worth it? Or will it be incredibly complicated? I could also cut this scene out, or simply leave it in and hope I'm not caught.

For context, I made this short film over a quick weekend with a group of friends to practice my craft and have another short film on my reel, and while I'm proud of it, I don't foresee it making it into a ton of festivals or becoming widely seen (although I'll still upload on Youtube, Vimeo, and attempt to share it as best I can).

Any advice would be very helpful! Thank you!
