Ranked Poll on /r/FantasyPL and Memes

Intro

Memes have been a big talking point recently and we're sorry that it's not been the right outcome so far. Meme Monday is/was a trial to find a compromise, we banned memes outright and the sub was pretty forthcoming in saying they didn't want a ban so it's been a process to find a way forward. As mods we really want to maintain the usefulness of the sub for actual FPL content and discussion. Some football subs have banned memes, some have Meme Mondays, and some allow them all the time. So evidently it's not one size fits all, and what we've tried so far doesn't appear to be the right fit here.

Context - Take Note

Something important we want to point out is memes were always technically banned in previous seasons and we've always removed an unholy amount of shitposts/memes. Sometimes mods would let them slide if there was exceptional effort involved - we think that's why many seem to think it was ok before, we were basically curating the memes and you'd only see one or two every now and then that really were excellent. We can no longer review every submission now the sub is over 160,000 subscribers. We've historically let that rule get a bit loose in preseason as the sub is boring as fuck.

Finding a Solution

Moving forward, we're running a ranked poll and the results will be decisive, most likely until the end of the season, thereafter we can review again if required. In addition, one of our new mods u/vaastav05 is working on a bot which is almost ready, it will remove memes which have not reached a karma level after a certain amount of time, this will go a long way in reducing clutter but will take some amount of time, trial and error to find the right balance.

Poll Options - Please read

  • Ban Memes - No submissions allowed. Please use /r/fplcirclejerk.

  • Daily Master Thread - Daily master thread that can be used to post all memes and shitposts. Mods will not police nor curate any submission in this thread. The thread will be stickied when possible.

  • Dedicated Day - 24 hour period in which all memes are allowed to be posted. Mods will not police nor curate any submission during this period. (Day to be confirmed, however it will most likely not Mondays)

  • Allow Memes - Post anything and everything whenever you want. Mods will not remove anything (unless a rule is broken) and will not police nor curate the quality of submissions - anything goes. Bot may help but not guaranteed.
