Confusing Time Skipper
Helloooooo. So, I don't really know how to start this because I don't want to make it obvious who I'm talking about in case they're watching, but I feel like it might be too confusing if I don't explain certain things.
I was a fanfiction writer on a fairly big site about a year ago. I mainly wrote fanfiction on video games since I'm not too big on movies and TV shows. There was one series of mine that was fairly popular (trust me, this will all be important). It was a fanfiction series on Final Fantasy XV. It consisted of 4 books that were Reader x [insert Main character name here]. My most popular was my first fanfic, Reader x Ignis. It got big in the community pretty quickly and I gained a decent following from it. I was always big on interacting with my followers, so I would often go online to look at their messages boards and chat with them. One of my followers one day, we'll call her R, made a post asking is anyway wanted to do a Final Fantasy XV rp with her. I told her I was down and we began private messaging.
She basically wanted to rp with someone who could play certain characters in the game well. I understood this because to be honest a lot of people in the community don't write dialog for the characters very well. (Like writing dialog that those characters would never say). I was told by my readers that I was really good at writing dialog in my stories, so I was glad to help her out. She asked me to pick between 2 characters in the game and we started the rp. R chose to rp as one of her OCs. I already got mixed emotions by that and started to expect that she wanted to fulfill some fantasy about her OC and a fictional character, but it was whatever. It went well at first and by the end of it my character, Ignis, invited her OC to a royal party and left. This is where it went down hill.
She asked if we could do a time skip which I was fine with. I mean it made sense to do one here. You'd think she'd skip to the party, but NOPE! She skipped to several months later where her OC and Ignis had already been dating for a while and now he was going to purpose to her. I felt so like thrown into this randomly, so I didn't even know what to write at this point. I just kinda wrote whatever BS came to mind. After the time skip only like 3 texts were exchanged and then R time skipped again! I was so confused and started wondering what the point of this rp even was.
So, we skipped to this part where Noctis and his friends would be going on their journey soon. She basically wanted to play out a scene where R wants to go with the boys on their adventure, but would have to prove herself in battle. This is typical of rps and fanfictions in this community mainly because the characters in the actual game are often seen sparring one another. She begins sparring with Gladio and... oh my word.
Let me just take a second to explain some major lure bits in Final Fantasy XV. Noctis is a royal prince and him and his family are the only ones in the whole world who can use magic. This point is used VERY heavily throughout the game! The whole story revolves around it! Not only that, but it's made clear that Noctis is the most powerful in his line of ancestors. Yet this girl is now using crazy magic powers that are unlike anything in this universe and are more powerful than what Noct can do! I don;t mind bending the rules of fictional worlds for the sake of an rp, but not to this extent!
She kept on time skipping and stopped making sense. Eventually she asked how I felt about smut. I don't mind reading smut, but I personal am uncomfortable writing it and made that very clear to my readers. I always wrote that in my authors notes. So she either ignored those or didn't realize who she's rping with. I explained to her that I didn't want to do smut and was uncomfortable with it. She understood and continued the rp... for about 5 minutes. She kept asking me over and over and finally, not being able to say no, I gave in. I was very unspecific and kept my responses short hoping she'd get the hint and end the scene quickly. My wish came true and she kind of just stopped responding.
Anyway, not the craziest bad rp story, but she definitely broke some unwritten rules of roleplaying.
