Emperors Children Combat patrol
Hi everyone!
I’m 23 (M) and just getting into the Warhammer hobby. Like many others recently, I’ve been loosely following the Warhammer universe for a while—playing some of the older RTS games with friends, diving into lore videos on YouTube, and most recently, 100%ing Space Marine 2. In my short (but very engaging!) Warhammer journey, I’ve really fallen in love with the story of Fulgrim and the Emperor’s Children. Everything about them—from the gold and purple of the loyalists to the pink-and-black sonic weapon chaos marines—has completely captivated me.
Recently, I was gifted the Chaos Space Marine Combat Patrol box by some family who have friends deeply into the hobby. I’m excited to dive in but also feeling a bit overwhelmed when it comes to painting. I’d love to create a custom paint scheme inspired by Emperor’s Children—maybe something like pink, purple, and gold with green accents for eyes and weapon effects. However, I’m nervous about committing to a color palette and spending money on paints, only to end up disliking the final result.
Do you have any advice for choosing and testing colors, or suggestions for paints/shades that would work well with this scheme? Are there specific brands, techniques, or starter tips you’d recommend for someone just starting out?
Thanks in advance for any help—I’m loving the hobby so far and can’t wait to bring these models to life!
In the picture included, you can see the models from the combat patrol box that I’ve already assembled and done some basic sanding on, along with a few extra models I’ve received from friends. I’ve also made a few attempts at kitbashing and pose adjustments, though they’re pretty simple so far. It’s been a lot of fun experimenting, but I’d love advice on taking the next steps with painting.
