Tips on starting my first franchise ever?

So I’m starting my first franchise in the nhl series and I’m using the blackhawks as they’ve been my favourite time since I was a kid. I’ve never played franchise mode before and was wondering if there’s any useful tips as there seems to be tons of options and things to do within it. I play with fog of war on and salary cap on as well. Thanks!
