Why do elf/human marriages often involve an elf woman and a human man?

I never understood why in most of these relationships the woman is an elf and the man a human. The opposite should be just as common since elven men are very attractive too, and I doubt all this is related to the romance between Arwen and Aragorn.

Elven men may not be balls of muscles like giants or orcs but they often have an athletic body, a pretty face and a lot other assets to flirt with women, I see no reason why these relationships are not as common as the elf woman/human man ones.
