Thoughts On the Self-Titled Album?
I apologize if this has already been discussed, I'm fairly new to this subreddit. But I'm curious about folks' thoughts on the self-titled album. It seems like one of the more overlooked albums in their discography despite being only the second with Mangini and the first in which he took part in the writing process. While it's not a top-tier DT album for me, I've always enjoyed it quite a bit. I really like how most of the songs are shorter compared to their usual material, Illumination Theory being the only one longer than 8 minutes (being 20+ is probably why the rest was shorter). But for a band that regularly has 10+ minute songs on their albums, having an overall tighter and more compact release is always welcome.
While I've never been crazy about The Enigma Machine or Along for the Ride, everything else I find pretty enjoyable. So, what are everyone else's thoughts?
