Advice after bloat
Hey guys, new Dobie momma here. Long time lurker. I apologize in advance for the long post, I just don't really know what else to do. I'm looking for advice. I have a doberman puppy, just turning 6 months next week and I've only had her for 3 weeks. She bloated Monday night, with a 80% stomach torsion. The vet was thankfully able to decompress with a catheter and the stomach went back into place without surgery. I went over everything from that night with the vet and she said I did everything right. The feeding (slow feeder/shuffle mat/training rewards/frozen toppl, ect.)the rest after (90min- 2hr) ect. And my baby still bloated.
Now I'm terrified of it happening again. I'm scared to play with her, and let her run around. I'm scared to let her play with my other two dogs, constantly watching how much she's drinking, afraid it'll be too much, too soon and it'll happen all over again.
I had planned on waiting till 2 to get her fixed, but now that's going to be moved up to a year, so I can get her stomach tacked. For those of you that have had a dog bloat and survive, how do you get over that fear? I feel like I'm doing her a disservice by moderating her play but at the same time, all I can think about is what happened, seeing her distress and dry heaving and fear for her.
