Why do people forgive gabby so easily?

I mean I do love gabby, I love her character, she's pretty, iconic and bitchy in the funny way but it was always a bit weird for me that she did what she did to john and nobody even called her out for that. I always was weirded out by this storyline, because if it was the opposite she'd be cancelled immediately.
