how to make room more functional?
PLEASE EXCUSE OUR MESS!! it's hard to keep things tidy when we have no space for anything TvT
hi, my boyfriend, 21, and i, 19, moved into a basement suite on the 1st of the month. our bedroom layout isn't working super well for us, so we're looking to rearrange things so they can work better for us and our needs. we're not really looking to update our current decor on the shelves, as this is a place that we're hoping to move out of after the winter, but we can bring in some stuff if needed.
we do have a roommate, so all the things in our bedroom need to remain in here, as there's not much room elsewhere to put it outside of our room.
i made a loose mockup of how our layout is right now, (not to scale at all.) we have a queen sized bed, a desk, a bedside shelf, and two bookcases. we are looking to rearrange so we could possibly fit another small desk, as i have a pc that needs to fit into here as well.
we are considering downsizing our bed and putting it into the closet space (where the desk is, as our bed takes up literally ALL the floor space available in our bedroom). we have our bed frame up on 5 inch bed riser blocks, so we have just about 14 inches of clearance underneath for storage. we have no place to store our clothing, as we didn't have the room for a dresser when moving in. ideally, underneath the bed could be for storing long term stuff.
the issue only comes to the desks and shelves. i don't know how we could arrange them for both of us to have enough space, which is why i figured we'd ask online here. we're open to quite about anything, but would have to get permission from our landlady if it's anything like wall mounting anything that isn't easily removeable.
any and all ideas or opinions are welcome. and if this post just skirts the line for whats required, i'm sorry. this is the one sub i occasionally lurk on when it pops into my feed, so im not super familiar with etiquette, but i think this falls under the rules.
