Churn or Earn - Simple or Complex?
Been at this for several weeks now of researching, comparing, etc. As soon as I get close to pulling the trigger on a cc app, I find another item that should make me re-evaluate everything.
Watched so many YouTubers that I began to think that all these churners are either still single, are dating, or newlyweds.
Does anyone do the churning game after having kids?
Questions I ask myself...
- Do I have the energy / commitment at this stage of my life to churn?
- Could that energy be better used for investment/retirement strategies (given age)?
CC Options
- Keep status quo (knowing I am not earning enough rewards) Bofa Custom Cash, Amex Hiton Honors, Apple Card.
- Keep it even more simple. 1 catch-all card (?), Amazon, Costco (I have the executive membership)
- Focus on travel. After evaluating our annual Hawaii trips, better to focus on reducing flight costs and leveraging points, use Southwest since they are the preference. Chase plan?
How does everyone decide whether to focus on cash-back or travel points?
Side Note 1 - The reason this whole CC evaluation was prompted I am moving several accounts away from Bofa to another bank for better yields. Doing so will reduce my earning status on the custom cash to just basic tier, if I am not mistaken. I may keep enough just to regularly qualify for Gold tier.
I took a look at PayPal, Venmo, USBank and it felt like too many hoops that I don't really want to jump through.
Side Note 2 - Whatever setup I do....would I either be 1 player (and have spouse as an authorized user) OR depending on the benefits, simple vs complex - can do the 2 player mode.
