New here
Hi everyone.
I just found this page and have learned so much already! I was hospitalized Jan ‘24 and diagnosed with acute liver failure due to alcoholic hepatitis. I stayed in the hospital for about 4 days and was discharged.
I was referred to a PCP and saw him the Monday after I was discharged the first time, he called and advised me to go back to the hospital immediately because my Billiruben was so high. I was there Tuesday-Monday and then discharged again.
Since then (Jan 29th) my labs have been incredibly positive, my Billiruben is down to a 4, my MELD score continues to drop and is at a 19 (as of this Tuesday 2/13), and my liver has started to produce albumin on its own.
My doctors have agreed to that I don’t need to be seen twice a week or even weekly anymore, on a biweekly basis and maybe soon a monthly basis and so on and so fourth of trickling down.
I have a consultation with a hepatology specialist on Friday the 23rd. I’m very anxious.
I guess I’m looking for some positive stories of success?
Thanks for having me! Happy healing everyone!
