cat’s collar causing chafing :(

hey y’all, i noticed today that my kitty’s collar has been causing chafing around his neck. it’s very minimal right now since i caught it so quickly and i have since removed the collar but i was just wondering if this is something that heals on its own, or if i should schedule a vet appointment? again, it’s barely noticeable unless you’re really looking for it but i want to make sure he’s alright.

once he’s healed i’ll try loosening it some and see if that helps, but i was also wondering if it could be the material possibly? his collar is velvet, does anyone know if that kind of material can cause this and if so what are some better ones i can switch to? thank you🖤
