Best strategy for using the 30k FunPoints promotion during upcoming trip?

Just booked our first cruise in July, so signed up for the mastercard credit card promo that will gift us 30k FunPoints.

We don't necessarily plan to do a future cruise so would like to have a plan to get the best value with our upcoming trip.

We are both drinkers so that would be an expense we could use help with. I read maybe buy a gift card with them, then use that card on the cruise? Also read that we can't use the points on this trip directly for alcohol? Confusing.
