Cat nail split in half with a smaller nail growing out of it?

My cat’s nail seems to have been split in half, with a smaller nail growing out of it. There’s black stuff in there which I can only assume is dried blood. We adopted her 4 months ago and while cutting her nails previously I have noticed the sides of the nail “peeling away” but I didn’t know it was this bad. All of her other nails are fine.

I’m reading online that this is fairly common, but should I take her to the vet because of the blood? Is it dangerous? I assume it’s painful because she meows loudly when I tried to get the picture and she is usually super calm, even when picking her up and inspecting her paws
