Hot Take: Buster First Star Power is ACTUALLY one of the BEST in the ENTIRE GAME
Yes, u read it right, one of the BEST (literally top 5) star power in the ENTIRE GAME—hold on buckaroo, let me explain
Firstly, I would like to showcase Buster's role in Competitive Play, both from my experience and analysis of pro scrims//championship matches which he is present:
Frontliner Initiator Tank with Close-Range Damage Dealing Capabilities
Requires A LOT of Team Synergy to engage in combat
Parry Super can counter many projectile-based brawlers*
Also, Buster is a great "No Man’s Lander", the perfect brawler to gain better positioning during battles*
BUT, there is one flaw that get's noticed while playing with Buster:
Inconsistent & Limited DPS, especially when dealing with Brawlers that pratically stay in the middle-farthest range of his main attack BUT also when dueling with high HP brawlers which his attack cannot sustain it*
That’s why Buster is the perfect prey for tanks like Frank, Ash, and Darryl, who can outlast his burst damage, or even chunky ranged fighters like Pearl and R-T, who can exploit his lack of damage at long range
BUT, the "most underrated star power ever" solves this problem—adding more damage to his main attack while a teamate is near you is PERFECT—imagine getting continuously super charge while your damage gets a +15% boost, or EVEN +30%!
Numbers?
Buster Damage + Block Buster SP | Base Damage | +15% Damage | +30% Damage |
---|---|---|---|
Damage at Minimum Range | 2760 | 3174 | 3588 |
Damage at Maximum Range | 1380 | 1587 | 1794 |
U might think—uh, lumping together is not suitable for competitive play—that's true, BUT, Buster seems to be one of the exceptions to this mighty rule!
Obviously, u won't stay together all the time, but mostly, the advantages of charging a parry super which can help your team to front new fields AND blocking dangerous projectiles, WHILE giving power to a unit with a broad range, area damage and a dangerous tool to execute kills (gadget), is very interesting so say at least
Also, Second Star Power is SO overrated, like it barely make any difference (Only on niche situations)
What do you guys think? Am I wrong OR it is really underappreciated?
