Why is David Benavidez so hyped?

I am somewhat casual, and haven't seen all of his earlier fights, but I truly don't get what is so remarkable about David Benavidez. All of his fights at the level he's currently competing at have been him getting thoroughly outskilled by his opponent and then taking over with his size (Plant, Andrade). I feel like other fighters who approach the sport with this strategy would be considered weight bullies, but Benavidez is considered to be a generational prospect. Then, he moves up to light heavyweight and looks bang average in an okay performance against an old Gvosdyk. I might just be biased because of my distaste for huge fighters cutting weight to divisions they don't belong in, but what am I not seeing?
